Jake Botts and Andrew Golden Present: A Tribute to the Adderley Brothers

Join Jake Botts and Andrew Golden on this unique night of sophistication and soul as they pay homage to the legendary Cannonball Adderley Quintet. Cannonball Adderley and his brother Nat were pioneers of the Soul Jazz movement in the 1960's. The quintet combined influences of bebop, RnB, blues, and gospel music. Although the Quintet was most known for their soul jazz staple, “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” the contributions of the Cannonball Adderley Quintet went far beyond that as they influenced musicians for generations to come.

Saxophonist Jake Botts is a dynamic and versatile musician with a bebop and soul-influenced vocabulary, a unique sense of melody, and a pure, powerful, tone. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he graduated with honors from the prestigious New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City in 2017. Shortly after relocating to Nashville, TN, Jake established himself as one of the premier freelance instrumentalists in Music City’s rapidly expanding creative music scene. In 2019, Jake performed as a member of Kelly Clarkson’s band on her 28-city Meaning Of Life arena tour where he was prominently featured as a soloist. Since then he has performed and arranged horn parts for NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show and performed with her at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. In addition to his work with Ms. Clarkson, Jake has performed and/or recorded with John Legend, Meghan Trainor, Gladys Knight, Cory Wong, and countless others. He has toured extensively in the United States, Europe, and Russia. In addition to his freelance ventures, Jake is also an accomplished bandleader and songwriter, regularly hosting jazz jam sessions in Nashville and releasing his 2022 debut LP, Global Works under his own name. He is currently a member of Cory Wong and the Wongnotes. Jake Botts endorses and exclusively plays Drake Mouthpieces, Hercules Stands, and Pinstripe pedals.

Botts//Bailie//Patton Organ Trio @ Rudy's

Introducing Nashville's newest organ trio featuring Jake Botts on saxophone, Ty Bailie on Hammond B3 organ, and Marlon Patton on drums. The trio will be exploring coveted territory in the classic jazz lineage of the organ trios. Paved by the way of artists such as Shirley Scott, Jimmy Smith, and Hank Marr, the organ trio has become a subgenre of its own in the world of jazz. The organ trios of the late '50s and '60s leaned towards a gritter, blues-ier sound, but over the years, the ensemble format developed and organ trios began to absorb and further develop modern jazz and fusion. The Botts/Bailie/Patton Organ trio will be exploring different eras of the organ trio lineage.
